DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
Sarah Unknown made a deed with Hezekiah Sr and could not be the husband of Mary Powers. Unfortunately, we only know he left all he owned in Gilmer County to his son Hezekiah jr by 1850, left to go to Lynchburg, Va and never returned. Thought to have died in Tennessee.
Just a note of interest. Joy Gilchrist, one of the transcriber's of the marriage record cited by you worked hard in the early, hands on years for Hacker's Creek. She type the first Hacker's Creek Journal used for my Hardman tree and many more since.
Powers-1440 and Powers-1439 appear to represent the same person because: birth date, birth place are the same. Both are married to same person (Hezekiah Stout) on the same day
