Stephen Powers (grandson of Harry John Powers) mentioned the following:

Grandpap Harry Powers served as a "Wagoner" in France (as I recall) in WWI

Here is a link to what a Wagoner did -

His grave is in Pleasantville, New Jersey, just a few miles from Atlantic City. There are no graves in Atlantic City, because it is part of Abescon Island, and the water table is just a few feet below ground.

George W. van der Ploeg (grandson of Harry) mentioned that George's sister Barbara recalls that Harry's brother Joe died in WWI and another brother had diabetes and died in his 50s

Also, George mentioned that he thinks that Bill was the brother that died of diabetes and Joe was the one who died in WWI. Morris was a Roman Catholic brother and he taught for decades in what is now Bangladesh.

George was always told that Harry died of diabetes.

Per 1985 audio tape of Robert Powers (son of Harry):

- Harry Powers was born in Boston, Massachusetts and later moved to Atlantic City.

- Harry had a natural brother Bill (same mother). Morris, Joe, and Mary were step siblings, as they were born to Harry's father's second wife.

- Bill died before he was 40

- Harry's father was an avid hunter and died while hunting in the Maine(?) woods

Stephen Powers (grandson of Harry John Powers): I don't know much about Harry or his father, except what my dad, Robert J. Powers talked about on his audio CD, "Heritage & Nostalgia", which he recorded in 1985 (3 years before he died).
