Major Peter Jones was ordered to command Fort Henry in 1675, originally built in 1645, in order to defend against Indian unrest that subsequently fueled Bacon's Rebellion.[4]
By 1675, Abraham Wood and his son-in-law Peter Jones owned and operated a major trading operation from this site. Fort Henry "became the center of a vast Indian trade with the hinterland."[5] Fort Henry had belonged to Peter's father-in-law Abraham Wood[6] and later became the property of the Jones family. It became the town of Petersburg, Virginia.[7]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Francis by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Francis:

My 7x ggrandfather, DNA shared with those of Poythress DNA Project. I see I'm cousins with both of the profile managers. I would love to be on the trusted list to help clean up this profile. If you are a male descendent of Poythress please consider participating in the Poythress DNA Project at Family Tree DNA.
Hi Teresa! Send a trusted list request & I'll add you.
Cheers, Liz
P.S. I see you added the suffix "II", which I'm about to delete. Per WikiTree style guidelines (from Help: Name Fields#Suffix: It should never be a suffix acquired after death or a suffix the person themselves would not have used.").
I actually almost went back and took it off myself and then forgot. I switch back and forth between so many sight I forget that WT is supper picky. I added that website even though it is a little dated, it has a ton of information and hard work of some dedicated genealogist. It also has a link for the Poythress DNA Project. Thanks
Todd - This profile is triggering a lot of database errors. A cousin recently ran an app to clean up a shared profile that worked a treat. I'm nursing my ancient computer until I finish a non-WikiTree project on a program I only have on it, so I don't sign up for apps at this point. Would it be ok if I asked for someone to run the app? Or would you like to? It's the gedcom cleanup app... WikiTreeAGC extension version 1.3.3 - see Thomas Jones III (1685-1755), which was reformatted by the app.
Is there a single primary source for the details of this man's life? I just read through the ridiculously long source list, which seems to consist entirely of links to family group sheets and user created ancestry trees, which are notoriously unreliable. Do we have a birth record? Marriage record? Anything?
Poythress-110 and Poythress-4 appear to represent the same person because: These are meant as the same person - same siblings & father - however Poythress-110 ex ancestry has a place of birth & death date not found in the American family histories for this family and so perhaps confused with information for other members of this family when first listed in ancestry.
I set Poythress-110 in an unmerged match in case Poythress-110, b c1630 in London & died September 1651, is meant to be the son of a different Poythress. Could y'all take a look? If he is a duplicate, please propose a merge. If he's son of a different Poythress, please detach him from Poythress-5. Thanks!
This profile is a work-in-progress. Under the developing rules on historically-significant ancestors over 300-years-old supervisors are doing expedited merges. We need one manager to take primary responsibility for each profile. Management rights and/or trusted status may be terminated per policy. Please see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Historically-significant_ancestors for more details. Please feel free to contact me with any questions as well. Thanks!

Poythress-110 could be edited in line with available info e.g. that which can be found here - http://www.tc.umn.edu/~timsx001/lpoole.html
