Biography

ROBERT RICHARDSON PRATHER (1800-1881)

Robert Richardson Prather was the oldest son of Leonard Deakins Prather and Frances Williamson Prather. He was born on February 26, 1800, according to the Prather family history compiled by Mary N. Doggett in 1955. His birth date may have been on February 26, 1806, however, as I have seen it cited as 1806 rather than 1800 on several genealogical lists online. Robert Richardson Prather married Frances Lambeth on August 28, 1826. They had ten children: William Jeter Prather, Robert Parham Prather, Joseph Leonard Prather, Katherine Prather Hutton, John Nathaniel Prather, Elizabeth Prather Case, Martha Prather Kistler, Virginia Prather Fordham, Valeria Prather Lester, and Lucretia Prather Hines. Like his father, Robert Richardson Prather was a clergyman, a preacher, and was referred to as Rev. Robert Richardson Prather.
