Samuel Pratt immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Samuel Pratt was born about 1635.

He married Hannah Rogers on 19 September 1660 in Weymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1]

He died between 12 April 1679 when he wrote his will, and 16 October 1679 when his will was proved.[2]

He named Hannah in his will along with his "brother John Rogers" as his executors. In his will he named his sons John, Samuel, Ebenezer, and unnamed daughters. He named as overseers his "brother Joseph Pratt," John Richards and Samuel White.

Children of Samuel Pratt and his wife Hannah Rogers born Weymouth:

  1. Judeth or Judah Pratt, b. 25 Jun 1661 or 01 Jul 1661
  2. John Pratt, b. 17 Aug 1663[2]
  3. Hannah Pratt, b. 21 Dec 1665

Son of Mathew (Macute) Pratt and Sarah Elizabeth Bate Kingham Pratt, he married Hannah Rogers on 19 Sep 1660 - Judge Pratt's Book 1889 shows July 19, 1660 but Weymouth Town Records show "marriageable September 19, 1660"

Samuel was, like his brothers, a town officer, and a large landowner, being mentioned frequently in the records as such.

In his will, he refers to "my brother Joseph Pratt." His son Samuel moved to Taunton and was the ancestor of most of the Pratts of Taunton, Norton, Mansfield, and vicinity.

Suffolk Probate Records 6:307: "Samuel Pratt of Weymouth "being sick & weake & minding his mortality" made his will April 12, 1679, and it was proved October 16, 1679. He appointed his loving wife and his brother-in-law John Rogers to be executors. His wife to have his whole estate until his children are of age. If his wife Hannah Pratt marry again she shall have 20.

To his son John Pratt certain lands. To son Samuel Pratt hafl of his lot "at Pen plaine." Son Ebenezer Pratt one-half of his housing and land adjoining. All the rest of his children 7 apiece. His son John Pratt to have half of a certain lot and a part of his 40 acre lot "neer Pen plaine." Son Samuel Pratt remainder of lot "at Pen plaine." His brother Joseph Pratt, John Richards and Samuel White to be overseers."

When Samuel died, somewhere between April 12, 1679, the date of his will, and September 5, 1679, he was supposed to have been about 42 years old. The seven children were all minors; John, the eldest, being sixteen.

Pratt-1981 and Pratt-626 appear to represent the same person because: These look like the same person, wives will need to merge also

Pratt-7957 and Pratt-626 appear to represent the same person because: Both represent the spouse of Hannah Rogers, for whom a merge is also pending.
