It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Pratt-2047 and Pratt-356 appear to represent the same person because: These two guys are the same person. I am not so sure this Joseph was born in Dedham, though. I was trying to add Sarah Hunkins as the spouse (and mother of Joseph's 3 eldest children) to Pratt-2047 and realized he was a duplicate of Pratt-356.
Pratt-2047 and Pratt-356 are not ready to be merged because: This match has been rejected before, after which much data was added, possibly without truth, to make one match the other. I am not convinced that these are the same person.
They both have the same wife (in your profile) and the one I was trying to add Sarah Hunkins. Are you saying there are two Joseph Pratts married to the same women? Obviously the other profile has the wrong place of birth, but they are the same person. Pratt-356 has zero biographical information for Joseph. They are more interested in the Hunkins surname.
Pratt-10572 and Pratt-2047 are not ready to be merged because: Pratt-10572 is totally lacking in reliable sources, and the marriage data appears to have been added recently without justification. Add that to the fact that the properly-sourced family of Joseph Pratt lists no child named Josiah, and there is no possible justification for this proposed merge.
The marriage date was NOT added recently. This week's Data Doctor Challenge is to correct marriage errors and JUST the country USA was removed because it is pre 1776. That is when the duplicate profiles were observed and per wikitree policy a merge was initiated.
