Biography

Ephraim Pratt, son of Oliver and Sarah (Willard) Pratt of Newton, Massachusetts, married Lois Fisher, daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (Chubb) Fisher,[1] on 31 December 1761 in Needham.[2]

Children of Ephraim and Lois (Fisher) Pratt:

  • child Pratt, d. 27 January 1766 -- may be same as b. in 1762[4]
  • William Pratt, b. bef. 1766, m. Ruth ___[5][6]
  • Ephraim Pratt, b. abt. 1766, m. Hannah Belcher[5][7][8]

Ephraim died on 22 October 1769.[9]

No probate record appears to have survived.

Lois married, second, Jason Whitney of Natick, on 17 March 1773 in Needham.[10]

On 5 March 1779, William Pratt, above 14 years old, made choice of Jason Whitney as his guardian, sureties Joseph Cody of Hopkinton and Benjamin Ward of Needham.[6]

On 12 June 1782, Ephraim Pratt, aged more than 16 years, chose Caleb Moulton Jr., gentleman of East Sudbury, as his guardian. with Jason Whitney and Edmund Rice Jr., yeoman of Framingham as sureties.[7]

November 1790 -- William Pratt of Roxbury, with consent of wife Ruth, and Ephraim Pratt of Framingham, with consent of wife Hannah, to Joseph Mudg[e] Jun'r, gentleman of Needham,[11] £9 lawful money, all our rights, title, and interest in and to the estate of the widow Sarah Bent of Barre, deceased, it being her thirds of the estate of the late Oliver Pratt of Newton, said estate lying partly in Newtown and partly in Needham. Wits: Wm. Boden, Jesse Morse, Judith Stone, Elijah Kindle. Ruth's witnesses: John Benjamin, Jemima Edwards.[5]
