Biography

Hannah Pratt was possibly the daughter of William Pratt. She may have been the daughter of William's wife, Sarah Borden. She may have been born 23 Mar 1754 and died 17 Nov 1808[1]. She was definitely the wife of Timothy Jessup.

On 18 Sep 1768, in North Carolina, at the Craven County Public Meeting of the Society of Friends, Hannah Pratt married Timothy Jessup.[2] Timothy and Hannah were among the original members of the Westfield Monthly Meeting in Surry County, North Carolina which was formed in 1771.[3] In the Westfield records, they are referred to as being of Stokes County.[4]. On 11 Jun 1777, Timothy and Hannah were received on certificate to the New Garden Meeting. [5]

Hannah's children and their birthdates[6] were recorded in the minutes of the New Garden Monthly Meeting. They were:

Hope, b 3/9/1770, m Jehu Jackson, [7]
Pratt Wilton, b 2/2/1772
Aris, b 9/29/1773
Hannah, b 10/15/1775, d 7/9/1776
Abigail, b 9/21/1777, married Joseph Sumner on 2 Nov 1790
Ann, b 12/20/1779, married Abijah Pinson on 7 Oct 1802
Timothy, b 2/23/1782, married Susannah Jackson on 30 Apr 1806
Sarah, b 2/17/1784
Elizabeth, b 2/27/1786

Hannah would have died prior to Timothy's 1808 marriage to Mary Russell.[8]
