On March 16, 1745 at the Goshen Monthly Meeting, Joseph Pratt married Jane Davis (also seen as Davies). Hence, Joseph Pratt and Jane Davis must have been Quakers.
Jane Davis was born in Edgmont, Pennsylvania about 1723, the daughter of David Davis (or Davies) and Jane Jones. She was a sister of Amos Davis that Joseph Pratt's sister Ann Pratt married.
It is assumed that since he was only living son, Joseph and his wife lived on the farm with his parents from the time of their marriage. They had five children there before his father Joseph Pratt's death in 1756.
The children of Joseph Pratt and Jane Davies were recorded at the Goshen Monthly Meeting:
Abraham Pratt, born 19 December 1746, married Sarah Williamson on 28 April 1773 and settled in Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He died on 26 March 1813. Sarah died in 1823. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Pratt, born in 1774 who married Robert Roberts in 1799.
Sarah Pratt, born 13 May 1748. She died at age about 6 months.
Jane Pratt, born 30 May 1751. She married John Hoopes in 1772 and died 17 May 1807.
Joseph Pratt, born 12 September 1753.
David Pratt, born 12 June 1756, married Lydia Hoopes in 1777 and settled in Marple. He died in 1844. They had 11 children. Their son Randall Pratt inherited his father's farm in Marple.
Mary Pratt, born 8 May 1759, married Francis Hoopes of New Garden in 1777, died 26 October 1793 at London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Priscilla Pratt, born 3 September 1761, married Thomas Bishop and died 17 March 1847.
Thomas Pratt, born 13 January 1764.
Joseph Pratt died on 19 August 1775 at his residence home in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and his death was recorded in the Quaker records of Goshen Monthly Meeting. He was buried at Goshen Friends Burial Ground in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania.[1][2]
