Biography

Bathsheba _______, whose birth is estimated at 1610 (20 years before her marriage) married about 1630, Joshua Pratt of Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. This assumes she was his only wife and mother of his children.[1]

There were not a lot of women available in Plymouth to marry. No one named Bathsheba was listed in the 1627 cattle division, when Joshua was still single. They were married about 1630, which suggests that Bathsheba came in the last group sailing from Leiden in late 1629 and early 1630.[1]

She was granted administration of his estate, 5 Oct 1656.[1]

After the death of Joshua, Bathsheba married John "Doged" of Martha's Vineyard in Plymouth on 29 Aug 1667.[1] [2]

Bathsheba was still living 4 June 1673, when she exhibited the inventory of her second husband.[3]

Disputed Surname

"Some sources claim that Joshua Pratt's wife was named Bathsheba Fay. There is no evidence for this, and no Fay family in Plymouth who might have supplied such a wife. This false claim apparently arises from the misinterpretation of the marriage in Marlborough, Massachusetts, of John Pratt and Bathsheba Fay on 4 January 1715/6"[1]

Children of Joshua and Bathsheba

  1. Benajah , b. say 1630; m. 1655 Persis Dunham, daughter of John Dunham[1]
  2. Hannah, b. say 1632; m. March 1651/2? William Spooner - as his second wife[1]
  3. Jonathan, b. say 1637; m. (1) 1664 Abigail Wood m. (2) 1689/90 Elizabeth (White) Hall, daughter of Nicholas White and widow of Samuel Hall[1]
  4. Bathsheba, b. about 1639 m. 1662 "Josua Ris" son of Robert Roice.[1]
  5. Deborah (probably), born say 1642, d. Rehoboth 1 Apr 1720; m1. John Barrows about 1665, m2. Joseph Buckland 17 Oct 1693 Plymouth.[4]

I came across a profile that seemed to be the conflation of William Daggett of Boxford, Suffolk, and John Daggett who died in Plymouth. Most of the information pointed to William, except for attached wife Bathsheba (Fay-1135). I know this profile holds a disputed surname, but I believe the women to be the same. The profile is orphaned, so her name can be changed to Unknown if needed.
This is very interesting, thank you so much.

Frye-208 and Kingham-45 appear to represent the same person because: same daughter of same parents

Kingham-45 and Frye-208 are not ready to be merged because: While it is obviously the same woman, the maiden names shown are different. Believe Kingham is correct. It is possible that the erroneous Frye as a maiden name came from her middle name, Fay.

Do not know where the name Frye came from. Her middle name appears to be Fay, but her maiden name was Kingham. Believe she had 4 children with Joshua Pratt.

I do not have any evidence of Bathsheba's maiden name being Fay, nor do I show her married to anyone other than Joshua Pratt.
