Charles was born about 1744. He was the son of Andrew Presley, a blacksmith from Cecile Co MD according to his Rowan County NC marriage license. He passed away in 1835 in Bledsoe Co TN.
Charles Priestley (the name also appears in the file as Prestley, Prestly, Pressly, Presly) is said to have been born in Anson County North Carolina.
He enlisted the year after the "Snow Campaign" while residing with his parents in Kershaw County.
He married Mary "Polly" Keziah of Kershaw County in 1783.

Charles Presley Jr. is found on the 1830 Monroe Co TN census where is listed as between 30-39 years of age. By comparing the ages on the 1800 and 1830 census we can determine he was born in 1800.

Charles died in 1835 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. Polly died in 1844 at the age of ninety.
His wife Polly aged 90 years, came before the Bledsor County Court and swore she was the widow of Charles Priestly and applied for the widow's benefits recently granted to widows of soldiers who fought in the Revolution; see images of her affidavit.
