Ronald Arthur Preston was born on 29 Nov 1926 in Pitt Town, New South Wales, Australia as the third child of Arthur Preston and Ella Bailey. He had four siblings, namely: Eileen Grace, Ella Verlie, Shirley Dinah, and Valerie Jean. He died on 29 Mar 2011^[1] in Tallebudgera, Queensland, Australia. When he was 28, he married Valerie Grace Marie Aubin, daughter of Jean George Marie Aubin and Elsie Irene Smith, on 19 Mar 1955^[2] in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Ronald Arthur Preston and Valerie Grace Marie Aubin had the following children:
