Alfred (Preston) Dexter was born in Exton, Rutland, England.

Alfred was born in 1886 in Exton, Rutland before the marriage of his parents and registered with his mother's maiden name of Preston.[1] He took his father's surname at some point after their marriage about 8 months later.

In the 1891 census Alfred Preston (age 4y), Scholar, was the grandson of Edward Preston in Cottage, Exton, Rutland, England.[2]
