Thomas Preston (1600-1679) was the 1st s. of George Preston of Holker by 1st w. Elizabeth, da. of Ralph Assheton of Great Lever. educ. He matriculated Queen’s, Oxf. in 1617, went BA 1619. He m. Catherine, da. of Sir Gilbert Hoghton, 2nd Bt., of Hoghton Tower, 3s. He was Member of Parliament for Lancashire 17 Jan. 1665 - Jan. 1679. He was buried 9 Jan 1679.
