Biography

Benjamin Presson was born Chester, New Hampshire, 2 January 1761, the son of William Presson and his wife, Hannah Healey.[1][2] He died perhaps Strafford, Orange County, Vermont, 13 April 1847.[3][4][5]

Benjamin married at Rumney, Grafton County, New Hampshire, 11 May or 11 July 1782, Elizabeth Kimball.[6] She was born about 1762 (gravestone) or 1765 (she was 63 years old on 20 June 1828),[7] and died 10 September 1846, age 84 (gravestone). Her ancestry is unknown or unproven.

Benjamin served in the Revolution from Rumney in Col. Hobart’s 3rd Regt. Capt. Stone’s 9th Company. He was an Assemblyman from Strafford.[8]

Benjamin and Elizabeth (Kimball) Preston are buried Strafford Cemetery, Strafford.[9]

Benjamin Preston, born about 3 October 1785 (calculated from death record), died Strafford, 10 May 1858, age 72-7-7 (gravestone, Strafford Cemetery, ae 73); married (1) Strafford, 26 May 1808, Mary Sanborn,[11] daughter of Moses Sanborn and Sarah Marden; married (2), at Strafford, 26 October 1824, Lucy Reynold, whose ancestry is unknown.
  3. Sally "Sarah" Preston, born about 1788 (1860 census); married Strafford, 21 August 1808, Peter Brown,[12] son of Moses and Mary (Hobbs) Brown. Several children born Vermont; the family removed to Ohio.[13][14][15]
  4. Betsey Preston, born 29 March 1790, died 7 April 1859; married in 1812, Selah Walbridge, son of John^4 (John^3, William^2, Henry^1) and Mary Walbridge.[16]
  5. Esther Preston, born Strafford, 19 November 1792,[17] died Monroe County, Michigan, about 1834;[18] married Strafford, 15 July 1815,[19] Earl Sexton of Sharon, ancestry unknown. He died Monroe County, Michigan, about 1834;[20][21] five children.
  6. John Ambrose Preston, b 1794 Oct 10,[22] dc 1835 May — [NSDAR #68695]; m (1) 1812 Sep 17 Strafford [VR] Christina Mosher, ancestry unknown, bc 1798 [Mosher, 90], db 1891 [ibid.], daughter of Pardon5’ (Nicholas4, Thomas3, Nicholas2, Hugh1) and Sarah (Garfield) Mosher, no further record. Parents of Hersey Derby Preston; John married (2), 1817 May 25 [NSDAR #68695j probably Strafford, Orilla Harris.
