Biography
Richard Preston was the son of Richard Preston & Helen Coutts. [citation needed]
His titles included:
- 1609 Lord Dingwall.
- 1619 1st Earl of Desmond (3rd creation).
- Viscount Cullen.
- Baron Dunmore.
In 1614[citation needed] he married Lady Elizabeth Butler (widow of Theobald Butler), daughter of the 10th Earl of Ormonde & Elizabeth Sheffield.
They had one daughter, Elizabeth Preston, who married James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormond.
They had no sons.
Richard died 28 October 1628.
