Jane was the third daughter of John Price and Esther Sharpe listed in the 1803 Ballintoy Parish Census.[1] It is not known exactly when she was born, but it was probably before 1789, based on the 1803 list, where she is named before her sister Eleanor Price, who was born 1790-91.
She is named in her fathers 1834 draft will[2] as living in "North America", as were a couple of named children. However, as her son John Price McMullan (also named in the 1834 draft will) lived in Ballinlea, probably with his grandfather John until the latter's death, this suggests that she had married and had at least some children in Ireland before emigrating.
The 1834 draft also named one of Jane's daughters as Mary Jane Dunn. Online USA records (familysearch.org) have just one family that fits these circumstances - a Mary Jane McMullan married to a Samuel Dunn living in 1850 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This seems very likely to be the same family, but remains unproven. The absence of any Pennsylvania records for a Jane McMullan may simply be down to the paucity of online sources with female names prior to 1850 (previous census records only named heads of households).
She probably died between 1834 and 1845, as she was mentioned in the draft will of 1834, but not in the unregistered will made in 1845[3] of her father's wills.
