David Wesley Price was born in 1844 in Scott County, Va. In June 1861, he entered military service for the CSA - 48th Va. Infantry.
At the battle of Chancellorsville, D.W. was wounded in the arm and was hospitalized in Staunton, Augusta Co., Va. (Note: He was released back to duty on 4 June 1863. The 48th Va. was active in numerous Eastern theater campaigns, including Gettysburg, Wilderness, 2nd Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Actions around Appomatox. - D. Ray)
After the war, a record was found in 2016, for a marriage between David Wesley Price and Ann Fuller on March 24, 1864 in Staunton, Augusta Co. On December 16, 1864, a child was born to this union - Nettie Price. No divorce record has yet been found.
Family oral history states that D.W. went in search of his family and was unable to find his parents or siblings. His search took him to Pike County, Ky., where he met and married Nancy C. Price [Price-10946].
