Biography

Anjer Price was born in 1756. Alternate spellings for the given name found as Anger, Anjey and Anjur.

Anjer Price served in the Virginia militia under Michael Reader in the year 1777. This company was from the area of Virginia which is now Page County. Other Price men, very likely related, in this same unit were Edward Price, Even Price, John Price, Meredith Price, Meredith Price Jr, Thomas Price direct line ancestor of Darlene Stone, Zachery Price Sr and Zachery Price Jr. There is in the files of the Virginia Historical Society a collection of papers pertaining to tax lists and military affairs of Dunmore County (Shenandoah after 1777), 1775, called "Bird-Samuels Papers, Michael Rader's (aka Reader) company is evidently from Page County and is found in the above collection. Marriage record of Anjey Price and Jean Price 10 April 1783 Shenandoah County Virginia from FHL film 007724925 image 12 of 573 Marriage register, 1781-1850; & etc. The marriage record lists all brides by the maiden name. Therefore, it seems accurate to say the maiden name of Jean (aka Jane) was Price. [2]

Anger and Jane Price are identified as residents of Shenandoah County when they married. Anjer Price is listed in the 1783 tax record of Shenandoah County along with Edward, John and Thomas Price. Familytree YDNA results indicate they all belong to the same haplogroup I-M253 and therefore share a common direct male ancestor. [3]

Anjer Price of Washington County Virginia 1785 signed a petition to form the County of Russell. The petitioners were described as sundry inhabitants of Clinch River, Moccasin Creek, Powells Valley and others. [4]
