Biography

Richard Joseph Price was born the 7th of March, 1833 in Bedeque, Prince, Prince Edward Island and was baptized in July of the same year.[1] He moved to Price Settlement, New Brunswick with his family sometime before 1851 when he shows up in the 1851 Census.[2] Richard died or dropsy on the second of September, 1917 in Price Settlement, Northumberland, New Brunswick. [3] He is buried in the Stymiest Cemetery on Stymiest Road, Price Settlement, New Brunswick[4][5] He married first, Annabelle Robertson in 1856. He married second, Annie Steele in 1890.[6]

The 1851 Census tells us that Richard and his family moved to New Brunswick by 1851 when he was 17.[2] In 1861, Richard appears again in the Census. This time aged 30, married to Ann[abelle] and with 3 children: Richard, William and Phebe[7]. By 1871, a more complete picture of Richard's family emerges. The first three children are not listed and probably died young. His family now consists of wife Ann and 7 children: Mary Jane, Elizabeth Ann, William, Jacob, Sarah Helen, Ann Young and Donald McDonald[8]
