Shown as born about 1825 in Virginia in the Pittsylvania census, Nathaniel Price also appears in the 1860 census for northern Pittsylvania estimated birth the same.
Nathaniel married Mary Pigg(born about 1831) on November 29, 1851 in Pittsylvania, Virginia.
Nathaniel enlisted in the CSA July 2, 1861, joining the 38th Virginia Infantry, Company H. He was assigned nursing duty in Richmond in April of 1862, and was discharged in September that year. He re-enlisted in October of 1864. Taken POW in the last week of the war in April of 1865. Sent to Hart Island prison, he would be released in June.
The 1860 and 1880 Pittsylvania census records combine to show Nathaniel and Mary would have at least the following children:
