Notes

Note N120Guy's middle name, "Ervan," was taken from Erva Aliece Murray Gardner Amos, sister of Flora Belle Murray Price. Was never married.
As Guy was leaving home to report for military training during Worl War I, he put his head down on the front gate pole. His mother Flora asked him what was wrong. He replied: "Something just told me that I will never see this house or my family again." While Guy was away in the army, Flora dreamed one night that she and her husband Bill were in a boat on a lake with her father, grandfather and Guy. The boat overturned and all were thrown into the water. Flora and Bill reached shore safely, but there was no sign of her father, grandfather and Guy. Since her father and grandfather were deceased, she became concerned about Guy. When she awoke, she asked Bill to go to the post office in Sand Springs to check the box for any mail from Guy. A letter was there advising them that Guy had been killed
Guy was killed in action on October 19, 1918, at Chateau Thierry, 50 miles from Paris, France, while serving with the 144th Infantry, 36th Division. He was later posthumously awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French government with citation for bravery (taking out a German machine gun nest). About three weeks later, the Armistice was signed, on November 11, 1918. The American Legion Hall in Skiatook was named in his honor.
