Flag of Virginia
Drusilla (Prickett) Morgan was born in Frederick County, Virginia.
Mary Drusilla (also spelled Drucilla and Druscilla) was born on 1 March 1752, the fourth or fifth child (she was a twin to Isaac) of eleven and the second of five daughters of Jacob and Dorothy Springer Prickett. Both her place of birth and place of death are in dispute. Her parents had probably moved to Virginia before she was born and, if so, she would have been born on Back Creek, Frederick County, just north of present-day Glengary, Berkeley County, West Virginia. By the time she was thirteen she had seven younger siblings. The family was remarkably healthy. Despite the rigors of frontier life, all the children lived well into the nineteenth century with the exception of Isaiah, who was killed and scalped by Indians when he was just seventeen.
Alternate birth information: 11 May 1751, Burlington County, New Jersey.[1]
On 12 December 1768, when she was just sixteen, she married Morgan "Mod" Morgan in Frederick County, Virginia.[2] The second son of her father's best friend, David Morgan, "Mod" was about five and a half years older than she. Over the next twenty-eight years she bore "Mod" fourteen children (eight sons, six daughters), all but one of whom lived (Cynthia, a twin to Elizabeth, may have died at birth).
Alternate marriage date: 12 Feb 1768.
Five of the children are listed below:
  1. Achilles Morgan (1772 - 1860)
  2. Morgan Morgan (1774 - 1868)
  3. James Morgan (1778 - 1860)
  4. Aaron Morgan (1784 - 1829)
  5. David Page Morgan (1786 - 1870)
In the early 1770s Drusilla and her siblings followed (or accompanied) their parents to the Monongahela River Valley, where Morgan did some surveying, established a "fine farm" on White Day Creek near Prickett's Fort, and served as a justice on the Monongalia County Court.
It is sometimes said that Mod and Drusilla !moved to Brown County, Ohio, about 1792.

Map showing location of White Day Creek
On 2 August 1817, when she was sixty-five Drusilla died of unknown causes, no doubt on White Day Creek, and is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Fairmont. (Her place of death is in dispute. It has been said that she died 1) at Prickett's Fort, 2) on White Day Creek (near Prickett's Fort), 3) on Buffalo Creek in present-day Wayne County, West Virginia. Since the Buffalo Creek area was not settled until later in the century and she and her husband were living on White Day Creek and she is buried nearby, I think it most likely that she died there. Prickett-1 and Pritchett-436 appear to represent the same person because: same family connections. "Pritchett" is misspelled and should be corrected to Prickett.
