Richard was born in 1760. He passed away in 1831.

The first records of Richard Priddy appear in Halifax Co., VA. 1. Court Records, Book 12, page 179, July 1787-Richard Priddy was over charged, on his taxes, for 1 negro over 16 and one negro under 16 years of age for the year 1786. 2. Deed Book 18, page 186, 17 May 1799-George Priddy purchased 100 acres land in Halifax County on the fork of Bradley Creek adjacent to Richard Priddy and Dudley Glass. Recorded 22 July 1799.

Prior to 1795, Richard and Judith moved to Jefferson County, TN. He was involved in various suits, the first was recorded in February 1795. He served on jury duty various times until 1813. In July 1800, Court Minute Book No. 1, page 180, abill of sale from Richard Priddy to William Moore for one negro woman named Beck and a child named Chani was proven.

In 1806 he was appointed Inspector of Cotton.

In Court Minute Book No. 5, page 160, Richard sold fifty acres of land to John Riggs in 1810 or 1811. Prior to July 1813, Richard and family moved to Knox County where he signed his son Thomas J.'s War of 1812 muster and pay stating that he was a resident of Knox County, TN. Thomas J. enlisted with his father's permission at the age of 16.

In the National Archives Land Records Office, Suitland, MD, Certificate #2088, Land Office Huntsville, AL, shows Richard Priddy purchased NW Section, No. 27, Township NO. 5, Range 4W, a quarter section containing 159.04 acres for $2.00 a acre, total price $318.08 on 13 July 1818 as assignee of John Winston of Morgan Co., AL. John Winston's purchase was Certificate #4256. dated 12 Aug. showing his assignment to Richard Priddy.

Richard recorded the land 19 Sept. 1821. Jonathan Burleson also assigned 79.52 acres to Richard (Certificate #2045) for $159.04. Range 4W bordered the land of John Terry. This land was in Cotaco Co. which was later named Morgan Co. Richard applied for his Revolutionary War Pension as follows: The state of Alabama Morgan County: Be it remembered that heretofore to wit, set a circuit Court begun and held for the county & State aforesaid at the court house in the town of Somerville on the third Monday in april in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight a declaration inorder to be placed on the pension list was filed sworn to and ordered to be recorded and certified. Jere, THANK YOU SO MUCH, especially on this historic day, for locating such a valuable source as the Valley Forge service for Richard Priddy.

I posted your research on the profile and added more Revolutionary War records I know existed but not attached. I do have Halifax, VA, record(s) to attach for our Priddy ancestors of Halifax, Virginia, and will do so the next few weeks. They are microfilm records of the county court system, valuable proof.

Priddy-1043 and Priddy-255 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death information.
Priddy-1043 and Priddy-255 are not ready to be merged because: Richard Priddy-1043 is a much later date of profile than Priddy-255. Priddy-1043 does have correct parents attached, but the profile biography details Richard Priddy was the son of Robert Priddy of Granville, North Carolina. And Find A Grave also lists Richard as son of this Robert Priddy of Granville, North Carolina, but according to my research of reading microfilm records, the Priddy brothers of Halifax, Virginia, WERE NOT SONS of Robert Priddy of Granville, NC. I will leave these profiles as UNMERGED MATCHES while I attach FamilySearch Halifax, Virginia, microfilm records in the biography of Priddy-255. The microfilm sources will then be available detailing the connections for all profile managers to view prior to any future merging.

Priddy-1043 and Priddy-255 do not represent the same person because: Same person.
Richard Priddy, Sr. of Hanover and Halifax, Virginia WAS SON OF GEORGE PRIDDY AND JUDITH BURK, AND BROTHER OF THOMAS PRIDDY AND MARY SNEED, Halifax ,Virginia, Priddys were my mother's bloodline. Since the 1980s the early Priddy genealogy books HAVE WRONGLY PLACED THE HALIFAX, VA, PRIDDY'S WITH THE GRANVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA LINE. TWO DIFFERENT BLOODLINES!!! I researched and mailed over 80 microfilm pages to Colonel John Priddy WITH MANY OTHER RECORDS to correct these lines and he recorded the Tallahatchie, MS, Morgan, AL, Halifax, VA, line/with Hanover, VA, records all recorded/approved by the Sons of the American Revolution. RICHARD PRIDDY/JUDITH MIGRATED EVENTUALLY TO MORGAN, ALABAMA, WHERE HE WAS EXECUTOR OF HIS NEPHEW'S ESTATE, THAT OF WILLIAM PRIDDY/WINNIFRED DIXON/DICKSON, previously from Halifax, Virginia, MY ANCESTOR.

You have far more knowledge and sources than I do. Why don't you correct this and then add a "Research Note" to tell people not to change it. From your note, I have no idea what to do. I don't have information about the Halifax or the North Carolina line, so it's not something I can manage.

Nicolette, so very sorry for such a late note to correct your profile before merging with my profile. In the past year I have had two cancer surgeries and three interventions for my severe spine problems, but I have been working on reading through microfilm for the Priddy family of Halifax, Virginia, which details the family linkages between Thomas Priddy, Dudley Glass, Robert Priddy, and Richard Priddy. Several of these have been linked as sons/family of Robert Priddy/Susanna Harlow of Granville, North Carolina, which is inaccurate. I will start to attach these microfilm records to first Thomas Priddy, Dudley Glass, and Richard Priddy pertaining to the property of brother Robert Priddy, all of Halifax, Virginia. I appreciate your directive to correct your profile as well. This will take several weeks, for I am writing/attaching microfilm records from FamilySearch from Halifax, Virginia, county records. I appreciate your work and patience while I attach MICROFILM PROOF RECORDS.
