James Pridgen is one of the orphans discussed with his siblings below:

The Pridgen children shown in the attached 1870 and 1880 censuses were born in Tennessee and are the orphans of Elizabeth Pridgen Rose's brother. This unknown brother was born in Georgia or Tennessee or NC or Alabama (The children's 1870 and 1880 census data varies a lot.) and died before 1870..... probably in Tennessee where the children were born. His children were W.F. (male b. 1860), James (b 1862), Missouri A. (female b. 1864 or 1863), and John W (b 1867 or 1866) Pridgen
