Biography

When Ernest Emile Prince was born on November 24, 1931, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA, his father, Doria, was 30 and his mother, Marie-Evangeline, was 28. He married Claire T Maguy in 1955 in his hometown. They had three children during their marriage. He died on September 27, 1994, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA, at the age of 62.

Obituary: FITCHBURG - Rev. Mr. Ernest E. Prince, 62, of 82 Edward St., a deacon at St. Bernard's Church for 11 years, died Tuesday in Burbank Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife, Claire T. (Maguy) Prince; a son, Michael N. Prince of Fitchburg; two daughters, Kathy A. Cavanaugh and Cheryl A. Prince, both of Fitchburg; his mother and stepfather, Patrick DeCarolis and Evangeline (Girouard) Prince DeCarolis of Leominster; two brothers, Rev. Mr. Norman A. and Raymond G. Prince, both of Fitchburg; a granddaughter; a stepgrandson; nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Doria Prince.

For the past several years, he was a part-time custodian at St. Bernard's Parochial School. He previously was a paper maker for the James River Paper Co. for 35 years.

He was a member of the first class in the Worcester Diocese to study for the deaconate. He was ordained in 1978 in St. Paul's Cathedral, Worcester, by Bishop Bernard Flanagan, and was assigned to St. Joseph's Church for five years. For the past 11 years, he was assigned to St. Bernard's Church. He was a member of Fitchburg Knights of Columbus and a life-member of American Legion Post 429. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. The funeral will be Saturday from Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., with a concelebrated Mass at noon in St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's School, 35 Columbus St., Fitchburg, 01420, or to St. Bernard's Church Renovation Fund, 240 Water St., Fitchburg, 01420; or may be left at the funeral home.
