Biography

Benjamin was born in 1797 in Virginia. He was the son of John H. Prince (1769- ? ).

He married Nancy Belcher (abt.1799-1887) on 22 Nov 1821 in Tazewell County, Virginia.[1]

The 1850 Census[2] shows him at age 53 with his wife and six children in Tazewell County, Virginia.

The 1860 Census[3] shows him at age 62 with his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, and 3 grandchildren in Wayne County, Virginia.

The 1880 Census[4] shows him at age 83 in the household of his daughter, Julia, with her husband and a grandchild in Wayne County, West Virginia.

He passed away in 1880. [citation needed]

Regarding his year of birth:

  • The 1850 Census[2] estimates his birth year as 1797.
  • The 1860 Census[3] estimates his birth year as 1798.
  • The 1880 Census[4] estimates his birth year as 1794.

1797 is used here, as it was recorded closer to his birth, and is in between the other two figures.
