Armegard was born in Bottnaryd in 1625, as the daughter of Johan Printz, who would become governor of New Sweden, and his first wife Elisabet von Boch. When Johan and his second wife Maria von Linnestau went to New Sweden in 1653 Armegard was with them. In 1644 she married Johan Papegoja, the commander at Fort Christina. They had four sons together.
She stayed in New Sweden until 1662, even though her husband had gone back to Sweden earlier. She abandoned him and went back to America in 1663, and did not return to Sweden until 1676. She died November 26, 1695, at Läckö kungsgård, where she had lived with her son Bernt.
