John Pritchard was employed as a translator by the Hudson Bay Company at Frog Lake, and was present at the Frog Lake Massacre, in 1885. He along with Aldolfus Nolin negotiated the release of of the two white woman Theresa Gowanlock and Mrs. Delaney.They paid 2 horses and $30.00. John was educated in Red River, he then entered into the service of the HBC and was stationed along the N. Sask. R for many years at Rocky Mountain House, Fort Carlton and Fort Edmonton. He left the Bay to become a freetrader and Buffalo hunter. In the early 1880's sought employment with the Indian Dept.. In 1884 he moved to Frog Lake where he was employed by the Dept. as interpreter to Thomas T Quinn.
