Biography

The only info I have on Sarah Proctor is that shw was born Abt. 1749 in Ireland, and died 1830 in Newberry County, SC. She married George Adams in 1770. He was born Abt. 1748 in Ireland, and died February 1808 in Newberry Co., SC. Sarah was the daughter of Samuel Proctor who was born April 2, 1713 in Derriaghy Ireland, and Died 1794 in Laurens Co., SC. He married Catherine ??? bet. 1730-1748 in Ireland. Catherine was born Bet. 1708-1729 in Ireland.

Three ADAMS brothers married three RUDD sisters who were born in Mecklinburg Co. VA (all daughters of Fields RUDD, born in Henrico Co, VA 1745 and died Newberry Dist, SC in 1803). The brothers, who all settled in Talbot Co. GA, were the sons of George ADAMS, who married Sarah PROCTOR. Sarah PROCTOR was the daughter of Samuel and Catherine PROCTOR who arrived in SC from Belfast Ireland on the brigantine, "Chichester" on Jan. 5, 1768. they lived and died in Newberry Dist. SC.

Samuel Proctor and his family came to America in 1768, landing at Charleston, SC on 5 January 1768 aboard the ship Chichester, Wm. Read Master. As poor protestant immigrants Samuel was allowed 350 acres in the up country of South Carolina.

The family consisted of Samuel Proctor age 54, his wife Catherine age 44, Sarah age 18, Samuel age 16, Catherine age 14, Philip age 12, Edward age 10, and Mary age 1. Samuel Proctor's Last Will and Testament abstract: Will dated 24 October 1794, Proven 19 May 1795 -
