David Proffitt was a Prisoner of War during the United States Civil War.

David was born in 1847 to David W Proffitt and Eliza Wallen, the last of six children. His mother died the month after his birth, and his father never remarried. David is a Confederate Civil War veteran, having served with Co. B, 3rd Missouri Infantry. He was captured in 1865. David died in 1930 at 83 years old.
