Biography

Eugenia was born to Fayette and Jennie Prouty. Per the birth record, her mother was born in England. This matches the information for place of birth found in the Marriage record for Laurina Hinsley to Fayette. Laurina died one month after the birth of Eugenia.

Eugenia was raised by her great Aunt Eugenia and later adopted by her, and her husband David McNair.^[1]

Per the Social Security Death Index, Eugenia was born on April 24, 1897 and not April 29 (birth record). At some point, Eugenia must have lived in Florida as that is the state where she obtained her SSN. Per the death record, she died in May of 1975 in Michigan.

Per the vital records of Emmet County, Michigan, Eugenia died on May 12, 1975 in Harbor Springs. I'm currently looking for an obituary that might provide a more accurate place of death and a date of birth.

Birth Record from Wayne County, Michigan. Uploaded in two pages as record was two pages wide in the book. 1st page has name of child and second page has names of parents.

1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 US Federal Census records provide her name at birth, and in 1920 her adopted name of McNair. She is living in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1940. She is single throughout the census records and from the death records, it appears that she never married.
