According to Charles Pope, The Prouty (Proute) Genealogy, Jonathan died July 24, 1733, leaving a Will.
A photocopy of the original Will on Ancestry confirms the details of the Will, however, while the Will was written in July 1733, with Jonathan "being in good health and sound Memory", it was probated in May 1738, when, after Jonathan's death, his brother William presented it for probate.
The Will gives all of Jonathan's clothes and bed clothes to his Brother William and the rest of his "movable" estate to be divided equally between William and Margaret.
The Will gave one half of Jonathan's barn to his sister Margaret and one half to brother William. One half of all of Jonathan's lands also went to his sister including "his dwelling house and Orchard on the Northerly side of the Road". The other half went to his brother William.
He left his gun and sword to his "cousin" Nehemiah Prouty.
There is no mention of any wife or children.
I find Jonathan's choice of the word "Cousin" to describe his relationship to Nehemiah very interesting. Margaret, though not married, had a son Nehemiah, but then that would make Nehemiah Jonathan's nephew.
Food for thought.
