Biography

Not much to know yet about John A Prouty but will add as I find it. I do know from Marriage, birth and census records that he was a Baker born in Hingham Massachusetts and lived in Weymouth where his children were born. In 1880 he is living in San Francisco, California with wife Mary. He registered to Vote in San Francisco as early as 1871 so must have headed there shortly after the 1870 census. The last Voter registration I can find available is for 1888 so he was still living at that time. His occupation throughout all records has been that of Baker. According to a brief line under Deaths in the San Francisco Chronicle, (name spelled Proutz) John died on September 15, 1889. The San Francisco Examiner has the same line but the name spelled Prouty.
