Biography

James Pugh was born about 24 Nov 1823 in Gilead Township, Morrow, Ohio, United States, son of Jesse Pugh (1801–1831) and Rebecca Severe (1800–1883).[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

James had a brother, Jackson Pugh (1830– ).

In 1850, James was living in Sherman, Huron, Ohio. [6]

He, in 1860, was living with his mother and Jackson, his brother. The family home was in Alpine, Kent, Michigan.[7]

James (37) married Sarah Francis Thompson (20) (born on 28 Jan 1841 in Kentucky, United States) on 4 Jul 1861 in Kent.[8] Their known children were:

  2. John A Pugh (~1864– )
  3. Mary Louisa Pugh (1866–1924)
  4. Charles L Pugh (1868–1937)
  5. Ellen Pugh (1870–1942)
  6. Sylva A Pugh (~1873– )
  7. Saba Etta Pugh (~1874–<1928)

In 1863, he resided at Alpine, Michigan (4th Congressional District).[9]

In 1870, James (46) Pew. [10]

In 1880, James (56) was living in Alpine, Kent, Michigan. [11]

In 1900, James (76) was in the household of his son, Charles, in Alpine township, Kent. [12]

James passed away on 19 Jan 1908 in Alpine, Kent, aged 84.[13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19]
