Owen Bodman Pugh was born in the 4th Quarter of 1888 in Cumbran, Newport Dist., Monmouthshire, Wales, the son of Owen Glyndwr Pugh and Ellen Bodman and the brother to Annie Elizabeth (Pugh) Hathaway, Annie Elizabeth Pugh, Clarice (Clara) Pugh and William (Willie) Pugh.
His younger brother Willie died on 28 February 1911 when 15 years old in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, a year before the family left Wales to migrate to Australia.
Nineteen year old Clara, with her parents Owen and Ellen, and her older brother Owen and sister Annie, and her cousin, 25-year-old Priscilla Burke, migrated aboard the ship "Norseman" to Australia. They departed London, England on 10 February 1912, arriving at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in March 1912, before continuing on to Sydney, arriving on 27 March 1912 [1][2][3] where they lived at Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia.
He married Alice Gertrude Smith on 2 May 1914 at St Peter's Anglican Church, Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia [4] and their children were Owen Josiah Pugh, Harold Courtney Pugh, Florence Adaline Pugh, Arthur Reginald Pugh and Florence Adaline Pugh.
Owen died on 4 July 1941 in Canterbury, New South Wales, Australia [5] and was buried on 7 July 1941 in the Rookwood General Cemetery, Rookwood, New South Wales, Australia [6][7].
