Biography

Thomas Pugh was born in Wales and brought to the New World by his parents in 1687 at the age of two and grew up in Pennsylvania learning his father's trade which was masonry. On October 23, 1710 he married at the Harvorford (Radnor) Monthly Meeting a young lady named Jane Roger(Rogers). Jane was the daughter of Robert Rogers and his wife Elizabeth of Citalgarth, LLanfor Parish, Merionthshire, Wales. Thomas and Jane had seven children as far as we know. They made their home in Philadelphia County, PA and this is where he died in 1723. His will dated "Philadelphia Co, PA, March 3, 1723 and was proven on Oct 1, 1723. The will gave his land to his two eldest sones, Jesse and Roger and appointed his wife Jane and his brother Job, as executors. Thomas also named five Trustees, three of whom are his brothers-in-law. His widow married Issac Malin of Whitemarsh Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Trustees, Robert Jones of Merion, Meredith Davis, Job Pugh and Ellis Roberts. Signed 3d Mo. 3, 1723. Witnesses, John Roger, Thomas Ellis, Ellis Roberts, Meredith David.

Thomas was born about 1700.
