Soldier Benjamin Pulliam served with Culpeper County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Benjamin Pulliam was born circa 1740 in Richmond, Culpepper, Virginia. [1] He was the son of Thomas Pulliam and Winifred (Holliday) Pulliam.

Marriage

Benjamin married Lucinda 'Lucy' Stuart (1745–1817) circa 1770.

Will

Last Will & Testament: On October 27, 1817, Benjamin Pulliam of Barren County, Kentucky executed his Last Will and Testament leaving his Estate as follows: first to his wife Lucy Pulliam, (a) a life estate in 150 acres and in a second tract of 124 acre, (b) Negro Slaves Rachael, Isaac and Lucy, (c) for the use during her life of a Negro slave named Taylor with a remainder interest owned by his son James Pulliam; and (d) for the use of during her life in Negro Slaves Jack and Mariah as well as all Negro Slaves not specifically named in the Will with a remainder interest in Jack, Mariah and the remaining Slaves jointly to his daughters Nancy, Lucy, Milly, Susannah, and son James; second, to his son Robert Pulliam, 250 ac and a second tract of 5,000 acres as well as a Negro man named George; third, to his son Joseph Pulliam, a Negro man named Aaron; fourth, to his daughter Mary Dicken, a Negro woman named Jude; fifth, to his daughter Sary Pulliam, 200 ac.; sixth, to son Benjamin Pulliam a Negro man named Sam and 136 ac.; seventh, his son Thomas Pulliam, a Negro girl named Isbel; eighth, to his son William Pulliam, 100 ac.; ninth, to his daughter Nancy Thomas, one Negro man named Frank; tenth, to his son John Pulliam $636 previously advance and a Negro man named Younger Jack; eleventh, to his daughter Lucy Brooks a Negro girl named Nell and a Negro boy name Primo; twelfth, to his daughter Elizabeth Amos, a Negro girl named Fan; thirteenth, to his son Charles Pulliam, a Negro man named Lewis; fourteenth, to his daughter Milly Owen, a Negro girl named Gracey; fifteenth, to his daughter Susannah Jameson, a Negros woman named Mary; and sixteenth, to his daughters Elizabeth Amos and Milly Owen, 200 ac. in Livingston County. Executors: sons Benjamin, Charles S. and James Pulliam. After 3 hearings (Dec. Term, 1817, Jan. 19, 1818 and Feb. 16, 1818, the Will was proved in Barren County Court on February 16, 1818.[2]

Death

Benjamin died 27 Oct 1817 (aged 76–77) in Allen County, Kentucky, and is buried in the Pulliam Family Cemetery, Scottsville, Allen County, Kentucky. [3]
