Obituary

A well-known identity, Mr. John Purcell, ot Sutton Forest, passed away on Wednesday at his residence after a short illness. The deceased was well known and respected by all in this district. He was a man who was always obliging, and was to the front when his services where required for any charity or war work. He leaves a wife and family of one son, and three step children, one of whom is to land in Sydney in a few days from the war. The remains were laid to rest in the R C. cemetery at Sutton Forest, the Rev. Father Martin conducting the ser vice at the graveside. The coffin was of polished cedar with silver mountings. A cross of white flowers from the family was placed on the coffin. Amongst those present were : Messrs. H. Purcell (son), E. Prigg (stepson), W. Philps (sonin law), W. Gough (brother-in-law), T. Gough (nephew), M. Larkin (father-in-law), D. McLeisb, P. Dignam, E. Hogan, T. iiyrne, T. Ellsmore, J. Elismore. A. E. H. Carter, T. O'Keefe, W. Townsencl, A. Wilcox. J. Hunt, W. Rufiels, M. Connor, E. Colbeck, G. Lewry, T. Clout, J. Marshall, H. Pollard, E. Hines, W. Mines, J. Townsend, T. Sewell, and J. Smith. The pall bearers were Messrs. W. Lyons, E. Hogan, W. Gough, and W. Sawell.^[4]
