Per a brief mention in the Connecticut Nutmegger, a John Purdy married an Avice (Alice) Tayler in Brundall, Norfolk, England, in 1582. They had children John, 1584, and Francis, 1587. [1] John and Avice are assumed to have been the parents of the immigrant Francis Purdy.
John Purdy was probably born about 1560, based on his 1582 marriage year. No records for his birth location or parents have been found, so the parents linked in WikiTree should be considered speculative.
John married Avice Tayler on 3 January 1582 in Brundall, Norfolk, England.[2]
Children of John and Avice recorded in Brundall:[2]
Avice died in October 1615, at which time John was still alive.[3] No record has been found for John's death.
The immigrant sticker has been removed and the Connecticut place of death has been corrected to England, as Francis Purdy is the first of his line known to have come to the Colonies.
The images on FindMyPast for Brundall can be browsed beginning in 1582 for marriage, baptism, and death records for John's family.
It is quite possible that the son Francis listed above was not the immigrant. The most difficult problem is that Francis Purdy married Mary Brundish about 1645, when this Francis would have been 58. Mary was about 15 when she married.
