Biography

Seth Purdy, buried on his Purdy Family Farm, where he was born, 1 mile North-east of Amityville. He was the son of Josiah Purdy (1718-1760) and Charity Wetmore (1719-1752). He married Phebe Ketchum (1760-1838), 9 Aug 1781 at St George's Episcopal Church in Hempstead. Together they had 10 children, all born on the family farm here in Amityville.

The name Seth Purdy is not that common, one would think, but the two records have different descendents. I believe the Purdy-771 line came from French sources tracing the Fouconnier/Falconer line. I don't have any further sources, so not sure what to do with this proposed merge.
