Persis was born sometime during 1767 in the Brookfield area of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. She was the daughter of Rufus Putnam and Persis Rice.[1][2] In November 1790, Persis moved with her parents and siblings from Massachusetts to settle in the Northwest Territory at Marietta, Ohio.[3]
Howe Home in Belpre
On May 2, 1798, Persis married Perley Howe Jr. in Washington County.[4] She moved to Belpre and lived on the Howe farm.[5] Together Persis and Perley had 5 children: Joseph, Perley, Abigail, Rufus William, and Persis.[2]
Persis died on September 22, 1822 in Belpre, Ohio.[2] She was interred at the Cedarville Cemetery in Washington County.[6]

There are discrepancies to actual birth date; consequently changed to only birth year. Page 178 of Brookfield's vital records gives birth date of Jan. 6, 1767. The Putnam history records date as June 6, 1767 on page 161, then as Sept. 16, 1767 on page 286.
