He was a farmer/stockman for most of his life and was also a cabinet maker having learned the trade early in life. He was raised in a Quaker family, but was removed from the Quaker roles because he married "out of union". He belonged to the Methodist Church.[1]
Birth and death information from the family records of Robert B. Pyle of Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are unsure as to the year - it could be 1806 or 1807. Listed in the Kansas State Census for years of 1860, 1865, and 1870. Obituary was published in The Ottawa Daily Republican of Ottawa, Franklin, Kansas on January 5, 1892
