Biography

Margaret "Peggy" Quick, daughter of Jacob Quick Jr. and Phebe Capps
MIDDLE NAME:
Middle initial: M, per census records
Possible middle name: Mores?, per Quick Family Records
BIRTH DATE:
Birth: about 1810, based on the following:
1) born 1810 KY, per census in 1850, age 40
2) born 1808 KY, per census in 1860, age 52
3) born 1810 KY, per census in 1870, age 60
4) born 13 Jan 1810, per Quick Family Records (see section, further down)
5) born 21 Feb 1809, per gravestone
Note: the headstone is a shared headstone, that appears to have been placed many years after Margaret's death in 1875. Assume it was placed sometime after 1911, based on the death-date of her son-in-law.
BIRTH PLACE:
Birth Place: assume Madison Co., Kentucky, based on the following:
1) born Kentucky, per census in 1850, 1860, 1870

MARRIAGE

Husband: Mr. Davis (first name unknown)
Potential husbands: Arthur Davis, or Isaac Davis
Some genealogies show that Margaret married Arthur Davis.
I cannot find any evidence to support this husband, or any records to support the existence of a person named Arthur Davis in the general area where Martha was living.
Margaret's 1850 census, implies (based on children's ages) her husband died after 1837.
Searching for a DAVIS family in 1840, in the Montgomery/Osage area of Missouri, with a wife born about 1810, with 3 daughters & 1 son (all born in 1830's).
Search results find only one family that fits this criteria: Isaac Davis.
Notice that Isaac Davis is on same census page as Margaret's father in 1830.
However, notice that the census of Margaret's father in 1830, indicates the presence of a daughter Margaret's age. This might suggest that Isaac Davis was NOT husband of Margaret.
Or... It might suggest, that Isaac Davis had a previous marriage.
Some genealogies show that Isaac Davis married Elgiva Van Bibber.
This is based on the 1840 WILL of Elgiva's father, Isaac VanBibber, showing daughter Elgiva DAVIS.
The children of Elgiva Davis (ref 1850 census of "Elaida" Davis), also fit on Isaac's 1840 census.
Notice that Isaac Davis is on same census page as Elgiva's father in 1830.
Isaac Davis is probably the husband of either Margaret Quick or Elgiva VanBibber.
Cannot locate marriage record of Isaac Davis.
Cannot locate any death records where father's name Isaac Davis.
Note: Missouri death records are not indexed by father's name, so thorough research is difficult.

Betty Baxter Quick is the mother of Lydia (Marier)? or "Mariah Jane" or James? Lydia was Burton Strickland's wife. Lydia born 24 Aug. 1833, died 5 Oct. 1895. (I do not know if Jane? or James? is Lydia M's last name or not). That is what is written. Samson or Sampson Quick came to McDonald Co., MO. from Osage, MO. (Benton Township? with Burton Strickland. Sampson died 6 Feb. 1892, he is buried in Union Cemetery near Stella, MO close to Burton Strickland and Lydia Strickland.
Our cousin Mary Noe Moser says she has papers where Burton bought a stone for Sampson's grave, it cost $13.50. She did not think Sampson was ever married. I copied as Mary wrote.
