Biography

Mary Quicgley was born on 16 AUG 1735 in Hopewell, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, USA. Her parents were James and Jeanette Quigley. [1] Her mother was likely of Scottish descent. Her father came to America from Ireland in 1730 and settled on 400 acres of frontier land, in what is today, Hopewell township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and served in Revolutionary War.

Mary married Capt. John Brady and had thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy.

  2. James Brady, born 1758;
  3. William Brady, born 1760 and died in infancy;
  4. John Brady, born March 18, 1761;
  5. Mary Brady (Gray), born April 22, 1764;
  6. William Penn Brady, born August 16, 1766;
  7. General Hugh Brady, twin, born July 27, 1768;
  8. Jane Brady, twin, born July 27, 1768;
  9. Robert Quigley Brady, born September 12, 1770;
  10. Agnes Brady, born February 14, 1773 and died November 24, 1773;
  11. Hannah Brady (Gray), born December 3, 1774;
  12. Joseph Brady, born in August 1777 and died in infancy;
  13. Liberty Brady (Dewart), born August 9, 1778
