Award-winning English actor who has portrayed 'Harry Potter'
Daniel Radcliffe was born on July 23, 1989 in the Fulham area of London, England. [1] He can trace his ancestry through Northern Ireland, South Africa, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. He appeared in the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are?, looking at his ancestral roots. [2] Speaking about his relatives and ancestors, Daniel said,
"Everyone was really loved, and ultimately that means that the time they had on earth, even if it ended prematurely and sadly, was worth having."

Radcliffe decided he wanted to be an actor at age 5. Then he made his acting debut at 10 years of age in BBC One's 1999 television movie David Copperfield, followed by his film debut in 2001's The Tailor of Panama. At age 11, he was cast as Harry Potter in the first Harry Potter film, and starred in the series for 10 years until the release of the eighth and final film in 2011.
During the making of the Harry Potter films, Radcliffe studied with on-set tutors, but he says he did not enjoy 'school' very much. He decided not to go to university, as it would conflict with the acting career he wanted. When he auditioned for the character of Harry Potter, his parents initially turned the subsequent offer down, as they were told it would be for seven films, shot in Los Angeles. Radcliffe was then offered two films, shot in the UK (he was not certain he would want to do more than two).

"Radcliffe is the embodiment of every reader's imagination. It is wonderful to see a young hero who is so scholarly looking and filled with curiosity and who connects with very real emotions, from solemn intelligence and the delight of discovery to deep family longing,"
Bob Graham, San Francisco Chronicle, 2002 [3]
During the filming of Harry Potter and after the series had finished, Radcliffe acted in many stage plays and films covering many subjects. These included family dramas, the First World War, Equus, [4], How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Woman in Black, Kill Your Darlings, and The Cripple of Inishmaan. He seems attracted to horror or quirky parts, and has also portrayed an undercover FBI agent, a technological prodigy, a ciminal mastermind, and a character who resents magic. He has also played a talking corpse.
In 2019, Radcliffe played a secret agent, and starred in the 2020 release of Guns Akimbo (an action-comedy film).
