Notes

LNAB may have been Netherland or Radford, but there is no direct evidence for either.
DNA match to Netherland.
Probable last name = Radford. Walter's sister Elizabeth married John Radford, who witnessed a 1749 deed where land was transferred from Silvanus to Walter Maxey.
Supposedly buried at Mt. Ivey baptist cemetery[1]
Walter and Mary had at least ten children: (1) Jane Leodicea "Dicia" Maxey (my line), born about 1737, Goochland Co, VA, married John Craighead; (2) Unknown Maxey, born about 1743, Goochland Co, VA; (3) Walter Maxey, Jr., born July 9, 1745, Goochland Co, VA, died Oct 7, 1828, Jasper Co, GA, married Ann Swanson in 1767; (4) Mary M. Maxey, born about 1747, Goochland Co, VA, d. Apr 7, 1830, TN, married Walter Addy about 1765; (5) Josiah Maxey, born about 1748, Virginia, died Aug 2, 1793, Franklin Co, VA, married Martha Arthur about 1766, then Phebe Arthur about 1772; (6) Jesse Maxey, born about 1750, VA, died 1808, Sumner Co, TN, married Elizabeth Scott in 1767, then Elizabeth Loving in 1783; (7) Jeremiah Maxey (my line), born about 1751, VA; (8) Lucy Maxey, born about 1757, VA, married William Cowden; (9) Susannah Maxey, born about 1759, married John Sullivan in 1785, and (10) Ester Maxey, born Nov 14, 1761, Cumberland Co, VA, died May 20, 1826, Franklin Co, VA, married Thomas C. Kemp, son of John Kemp and Mary Craighead.

Mary was born in 1719. She passed away in 1791.

  • Delmas Maxey
  • Darcey Zumwalt (smanddl@comcast.net) states, "Mary Netherland married Wm Harris in 1738 - the same year she supposedly married Walter Maxey. Also, Mary (Netherland) Harris marries a second time to Samuel Tucker Woodson in 1751."

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

Netherland-173 and Netherland-154 appear to represent the same person because: These are clearly the same person. Multiple generations of duplicates created along a line of Maxeys. On WIkiTree there should only one instance of each person.

After researching Mary Radford ( I think this to be DAR name for Mary) if our Mary is Mary Radford the DAR says, then I found Elizabeth daughter of Edward Maxey and Susannah Gates married a John Radford. John and Elizabeth had a daughter named Mary Radford born abt 1720, then this Mary Radford married her uncle (I think) Walter! All the other Mary Radford's I found in the area married men that do not end in the name Maxey.

Nethertand-1 and Radford-37 are not ready to be merged because: Clarification needed. One woman or two? And if one, which name? I doubt it is both.
