Research Notes

William's surname has been transcribed incorrectly as Rainwaters, Rainswater (on his marriage records) and even Ramwaters (on 1850 census of Lauderdale, Misissippi) [3] Entered by Janne Gorman

William is sometimes confused with the William Rainwater who married Elizabeth Lucas, in Marengo county, Alabama, in 1823. That William Rainwater died in 1839, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Cornelius Holliman was the administrator of his estate and married his widow. He had only three sons and no daughters. [4] Entered by Janne Gorman

Research notes should not be removed. On 20 May 2016 I wrote that Hannah Rainwater may not be the child of William Rainwater and Elizabeth Holliman. Since then the William Rainwater 1797-1839 I entered [5] has been changed to a different William Rainwater and the mother changed from Elizabeth Holliman to Caroline Davis. Probably the best change would have removed Hannah from the parents I had linked. Bishop-4082 21:31, 29 September 2017 (EDT)
