Hannah was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Mason) Rakestraw. She was born in Evesham Township, Burlington County, New Jersey on 6 mo. (Aug) 26, 1749.[1]
On December 28, 1772, Hannah married Abraham Haines, the son of Abraham Haines and Sarah (Ellis) Haines Cattell.[2] Abraham was a farmer in Evesham Township, New Jersey. Hannah and Abraham had ten known children who were: Ner (1773-1883), Bethuel (1775-1823), Abraham (1777-1825), Thomas (1779-?), Hannah (1781-1862), Ellis (1784-1824), Asa (1786-?), Isaac (1788-?), Mary E. (1791-1833), and Sarah (1794-1824).[3][4]
Hannah's husband, Abraham, died intestate in 1822 (before May). Letters of Administration were granted to their son, Bethuel, on 20 May 1822, but Bethuel died the following year. Thus, administration was transferred to Benjamin H. Lippincott.[5] [6]
On March 25, 1823, Hannah signed a quit claim on her property and moved to Preble County, Ohio where a few of her children had located. (Ner, Hannah, and Mary are the children in Ohio.) Hannah died in Ohio on July 24, 1828. She is buried in Westfield Cemetery,[7] also known as "The Quaker Ridge" or "Westfield-Hicksite Cemetery," in Camden, Preble County, Ohio.[8]
