DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
Robert Ralston (b1725), a stockingmaker in Hamilton, married Susannah Sim(p)son in 1749, later (1784) became a burgess in Glasgow where he operated as a stockingmaker in Calton and died in Aug 1806. Church records show he is buried in the same plot as Susannah Simson, who died in 1807.
Additionally, yDNA shows that descendants of this Robert are not the same haplogroup as the Paisley Ralstons.
Ralston-1909 and Ralston-637 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth date/place and death date/place and duplicate sons, John Tate Ralston (Sr.).
Unsure if he married two different women named Frances (not impossible) or if Frances Tate had a first marriage or a later marriage to Clarkson.
